The American Medical Student Association is dedicated to the improvement of medical education, health care, and health care delivery so that health care may become more personal and holistic in a world of increasing technology and efficiency. We define health as a positive, dynamic state of physical, mental and environmental well-being, and therefore, believe that health care should be oriented toward the achievement of health and not solely a treatment of disease. Health maintenance, then, becomes a basic responsibility of all individuals, and health professionals become the colleagues of patients in the management and maintenance of health.

AURA (Aspire Unity, Reform, & Activism in Health) is a dynamic and inclusive community of leaders and changemakers, united by a shared passion for health and social reform. Open to students from all majors—both undergraduates and graduates—AURA welcomes anyone who is committed to making a positive, lasting impact on the world.

We are dedicated to fostering leadership through collaboration with nonprofits and advocating for a wide range of health-related issues. Our mission is to empower our members by providing opportunities to take on leadership roles, work in teams, network with professionals, earn service hours, and drive meaningful change.

Each semester, we partner with health-focused nonprofits to execute 1-2 large-scale projects addressing critical health issues. These projects may include workshops, drives, conferences, or exhibits—the possibilities are endless, shaped by the talents and passions of our members. Our club is for everyone because the issues we address—such as mental health, reproductive health, gender health, and chronic diseases—affect everyone. Through our collaborative efforts, we aim to create substantial change in local communities.
